tree of light 2024 - Share your love this Christmas.
This Christmas, NHS Borders charity The Difference want you to share your love with the special people in your life. Whether you are remembering someone, a friend you want to thank or someone or something you want to celebrate, we are inviting you to dedicate a light in their honour on The Difference Tree of Light.
Your donation will support “The Difference” (Borders Health Board Endowment Funds, Reg. No. SC008225) to make the difference to patient care in the Borders by supporting projects and initiatives across our region that enhance our services, improve patient environments or experience.
For a small donation you can make a dedication and post a photo, should you wish, on the charity’s virtual tree.
Your dedication can be made to anyone regardless of whether you, or they, have had a connection with NHS Borders’ services and your dedications, messages and photos will appear on on our online tree. You can also remain anonymous if you wish.
In return the Difference will send you a handcrafted decoration (while stocks last) which can be gifted to those you are thanking and celebrating or can be kept to honour those you have lost.
We wish to thank Galashiels crafting group, the “Crafty Dafties” who have yet again kindly given their time and materials to make the decorations.
In addition to our virtual Tree of Light, each year the charity places a real tree at Borders General Hospital to help spread a little festive sprit to those in need of NHS services this Christmas, and of course to the wonderful NHS Borders staff who sacrifice time with their own families to care for others.
On Tuesday 3rd December we held a brief, informal ceremony to light up this tree. Both NHS Borders staff and people who had dedicated a light were in attendance to watch the NHS Borders Patient Experience Team push the button before the Health in Harmony Choir treated us to renditions of “Christmas is Coming” and “Joy To The World”.
You can still dedicate a light up to the 31st December 2024.
