The Difference at Christmas

Each year, through your donations, the charity is able to help wards, services and departments across NHS Borders to support patients to have the best possible experience despite being in hospital over the festive period.

The charity funds gifts for patients, decorations for wards and a modest budget for party food for patients too. We are proud to be able spread a little festive cheer this Christmas.

Tree of light

Each year we provide staff, patients and the public with the opportunity to dedicate a light on our virtual Christmas Tree with our Tree of Light campaign, however we also very proud to be able to provide a very real (and this year very big!) tree at Borders General Hospital to raise the spirits of staff, patients and visitors who are spending time in hospital over Christmas and New Year.

the season of giving

Christmas leaves us in no doubt about just how special our Borders’ communities are, as this time of year we are always kept very busy supporting visits from groups and organisations who wish to donate gifts for patients too. We are very fortunate to have so many thoughtful and generous supporters who want to make Christmas special, particularly for our younger patients.

Santa delivers SPPA gifts to Children’s Ward!

We were delighted when a very special guest visited the Children’s ward this month to drop off the many gifts donated by the incredibly generous staff at SPPA in Tweedbank.

Borders Royal Mail Staff On The Nice List!

Royal Mail staff from across the Scottish Borders definitely made Santa’s nice list when they donated selection boxes, activity packs and toys for children attending hospital this Christmas.

Helping children in A&E at Christmas too!

As well as the Children’s Ward, donated gifts are shared with our A&E department for children they will see this festive season, whether they are the patient themselves or accompanying a loved one.

Thank you to all our donors and supporters for helping us spread some Christmas cheer to those who find themselves in hospital at this time of year.

Merry Christmas to you all.
